Scotty tragically passed away on August 6, 2016. His aviation career spanned six decades and nearly 11,000 hours in everything from Cubs to F-16s.  After a thirty-year Air Force career, Scotty transitioned to the private sector where he led multi-unit companies in the aviation sector. He had significant start-up, turn-around, and business-development experience.  He was an avid general aviation enthusiast with Airline Transport Pilot; Instructor; and Mechanic ratings. He leaves behind his wife Leslia, and will be sadly missed by the team.
Stan Shumway

Stan Shumway

Stan was the President and co-founder of Erie Management Group (EMG) managing a $120 mln investment portfolio. Prior to EMG Stan founded FLAG International whereby Stan decided this Company’s efforts across four continents, focusing primarily on economic development in post-war and transitional economies. After 20 years of service, Stan retired from the United States Marine Corps as a Major. Before transferring to the financial field, Stan served in a succession of line positions in the artillery and he served as the assistant dean for finance of the United States Naval Academy and as a member of the faculty of its Economics Department.  Stan holds a Masters of Science degree in Management and Finance as well as a B.S. in Business Administration.
Simon Birney

Simon brings over over 20 years of business development in the IT industry to the team. A successful businessman, and aviation enthusiast, he is the UK-based European voice and face of the Le Rêve Bleu project. In this role, he liaises with sponsors, vendors, air show organizers, etc. Simon is focused on the business and commercial side of Le Rêve Bleu, and comments “You just have to look on in awe at this elegant, beautiful lady, to have the opportunity to be part of the team that will realise Bugatti and DeMonge dreams nearly 80 years on is nothing short of amazing”
Aldert van Nieuwkoop

Aldert van Nieuwkoop

Aldert was born in the Netherlands. After finishing Nautical College and attaining a double degree in Navigation and Marine Engineering, Aldert studied Shipping Economics at the London School of Economics. Aldert worked in the Shipping and Oil & Gas industries, primarily in the Sales and Marketing Departments, for 20 years, 15 of which were spent in London as well as the Netherlands and Scotland. Aldert came to Canada in 2001 and obtained an MBA at Queens University. Aldert is Owner and Managing Director of Thinkr Marketing Group based in Hamilton, Ontario Canada. Thinkr Marketing is a well established marketing and branding company and its team is working with Rêve Bleu to market the Bugatti 100P.
Frank van Dalen

Frank van Dalen

Frank is a Dutch aerospace engineer who learned to fly at 16. He studied aerospace engineering at Imperial College in London and at Delft University of Technology in Holland where his work included analysis of vintage wooden aircraft structures. After graduation he worked at Delft University as a research engineer and an assistant professor. Since 2000 he has been with Fokker Aerostructures where he is Chief Engineer of the Airbus A350XWB Outboard Flaps. Frank is the author of One Hundred Years Licensed to Fly, A History of Anthony Fokker and His Airplane Factory, written in celebration of the brand’s centennial milestone.
